NSYNC was a pop boy band that was formed in Orlando, Florida in 1995. Although the band was American, they debuted in Germany with BMG Ariola Munich. The members of NSYNC were Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and Lance Bass. The band was formed after Chris Kirkpatrick had missed the cut for the Backstreet Boys. He went on to meet with Lou Pearlman in 1995 to talk about forming another boy band pop group. Pearlman tasked Kirkpatrick to find other young male singers and said that he would finance the group if he was successful. Kirkpatrick called a friend he had met while working at universal studios, Joey Fatone. Once they were united, Fatone and Kirkpatrick asked Lou Pearlman if he had any idea of other singers they could recruit. Old videos of Justin Timberlake caught Pearlman’s eye as he was looking through tapes of the Mickey Mouse Club. He was contacted and after he agreed to join the group, Timberlake recommended another Mickey Mouse Club co-star JC Chasez to be part of the group. The band was rounded out and completed by finding a bass singer in Jason Galasso. Finally, in 1997, their debut album was self-titled and successfully released to Europe. It later released in the United States with the single "I Want You Back".
After extremely public legal battles with their former manager Lou Pearlman and their former record label Bertelsmann Music Group, the group's second album, No Strings Attached was releases in 2000. The boy band’s first two releases, NSYNC and No Strings Attached, were both diamond certified. They released the album Celebrity in 2001 and it sold 1.8 million copies in its first week in the US. The hits "Bye Bye Bye", "This I Promise You", "Girlfriend", "Pop" and "It's Gonna Be Me" reached the top 10 in several international charts. “It’s Gonna Be Me” topped the US Billboard Hot 100 as number one. Blige, country music supergroup Alabama, and Gloria Estefan. Throughout their time as a band, they received eight Grammy Award nominations.
In 2002, the band took what they called a “temporary hiatus.” Since that time, they have not been together or recorded any new material. Lance Bass confirm to the world in 2007 by saying that the band “definitely broke up.” The band went on a total of five United States tours. NSYNC have sold over 70 million albums which put them on the charts as number 5 of the bestselling boy bands in history. At the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. NSYNC received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which also sparked a brief reunion for the event.
