Sex Pistols T-Shirts

The Sex Pistols were a punk rock band that was formed in 1975. The Sex Pistols paved the way for punk and alternative rock bands worldwide. The Sex Pistols members include Johnny Rotten, Paul Cook, Glen Matlock, and Steve Jones. Glen Matlock was replaced in 1977 by Sid Vicious. The Strand was the first band, before the Sex Pistols.

The Sex Pistols spotted John Lyndon aka Johnny Rotten in 1975 wearing a Pink Floyd T-Shirt. They liked his look and his “I Hate Pink Floyd tee shirt”, so they added him to the band. They nicknamed him Johnny Rotten, because of his bad dental hygiene. The Sex Pistols starting playing gigs, then in 1976 the Sex Pistols released their first single, “Anarchy in the U.K.”

The Sex Pistols were known for their wild behavior, music, and appearance. The Sex Pistols was on a live broadcast of Thames Television’s Today, and was criticized for their obsessive swearing.

In 1977, Sid Vicious joined the Sex Pistols. Glen Matlock was replaced by Sid Vicious. The Sex Pistols at the 100 Club Punk Special, and Sid Vicious was arrested at that special for throwing a glass at The Dammed. The glass shattered and a piece of the glass hit a girl in the eye, which led her blind.

The Sex Pistols signed on with Virgin Records, which was their third record label in under three years. The album, “God Save the Queen” was released. The album cover features Queen Elizabeth face, and with God Save The Queen in cut out letters over her eyes, and Sex Pistols over her mouth. The famous record cover was protested in England for the cover and the lyrics of the song. Many record stores refused to sell the album. Some of the lyrics are, “God save the Queen. She ain’t no human being, and there’s no future in England’s dreaming”. In just two weeks that single sold over 150,000 copies in the United Kingdom.

The Sex Pistols released, “Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols” in 1977. The album was names as the most exciting rock and roll album of the seventies. The Sex Pistols started their United States tour in January, 1978. Sid Vicious stroke an audience member in the head with his guitar in Texas, and in Tennessee he was looking for drugs, and carved, “Gimme a fix” into his chest with a razor. The band called it quits on January 17, 1975. The band members all went to do solo careers after the breakup.
