Led Zeppelin T-Shirts

Led Zeppelin was a rock band from England that was formed in 1968. Led Zeppelin band members include Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Bonham, and John Paul Jones. Jimmy Page was playing with the band the Yardbirds. The Yardbirds played their final concert, but were still committed to other concerts, so he and Robert Plant along with a few other members met those concert obligations, then went on to form Led Zeppelin.

Led Zeppelin signed on with Atlantic Records in 1968. Atlantic Records signed Led Zeppelin without ever seeing the band perform. Led Zeppelin started their first tour together in 1968. Their first debut album was called, “Led Zeppelin”, which was released in 1969, and immediately peaked on the Billboard chart at number ten. The album hit the United Kingdom charts at number six. Led Zeppelin released their second album later that year, which was called, “Led Zeppelin II”. The sound of the second album had more of a heavy metal rock sound than the first album did, which was successful for the band.

“Whole Lotta Love” was re-edited, then released in 1970 where it topped the United States Billboard charts at number four. That same year Led Zeppelin released their third album, which was, “Led Zeppelin III”, which flew to number one on the UK and United States Billboard charts, but it didn’t stay on the charts for very long.

As Led Zeppelin got more successful they changed their image by wearing more expensive and elaborate clothing, they also got their very own private jet, which was called, “The Starship”, and when they toured they rented out entire sections of the hotel where they would stay. The band was known to destroy the hotel rooms. John Bonham once rode a motorcycle through one of the hotel floors.

The band released their fourth album in 1971. The album had no title. The album sold over twenty three million copies in the United States alone. The big hit, “Stairway to Heaven” was on that album. The band started another tour in 1977. They set a record with the Guinness Book of Records of having the largest attendance for one performance at that time.

John Bonham was found dead on, and that was the end of Led Zeppelin as the original band. The three remainder members played together at the Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary in 1988. Led Zeppelin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995. Led Zeppelin has sold over two hundred million albums worldwide, and is considered one of the best rock bands ever.
