Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is one of those cult classic movies that you can watch over and over! This 1986 comedy about our favorite high school wise guy was written and produced by John Hughes. The movie was released on June 11, 1986 by Paramount Pictures. The movie follows Ferris Bueller, who is played by Matthew Broderick on a day that he decides to skip school, then spend the day in downtown Chicago with his girlfriend, Sloane Peterson, who is played by Mia Sara, and his best friend, Cameron Frye, who is played by Alan Ruck.

Ferris Bueller goes through amazing adventures when he decides to skip school on a great spring day. He has to fake a sickness to his parents, then he convinces his best friend to join in him is adventures. The two take Cameron’s Ferrari, then Ferris conspires to get his girlfriend out of school, so she can join them. Ferris has a bitter sister, Jeanie. She is tired of him getting away with his misbehavior. The Dean of Students tries to catch Ferris, but runs into his own challenges too.

Ferris, Cameron and Sloane head downtown Chicago to enjoy a great day. They take in a Cubs game at Wrigley Field, stop by the Sears Tower, and many other great Chicago locations. Little do the gang know, but the two garage attendants take the Ferrari on a joy ride. The day ends up good, but does Ferris get caught skipping? What ends up happening?

A television series was created in 1990 called Ferris Bueller. The series aired on NBC. The series was cancelled after the thirteen episode. A documentary was created as a tribute to the film in 2011. The documentary is called, Inside Story: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off was a huge success. The film is currently ranked # 54 on Bravo’s “100 Funniest Movies”. The movie had a total weekend gross of $6,175,647. The movie because the 10th highest grossing film in 1986. One of the most remember able songs in the movie is, “Oh Yeah”, by Yello.
