The Breakfast Club is a comedy and drama movie that was released in 1985. The five young teens were all a part of a clique at their high school. Anyone who ever watched the Breakfast Club could relate to one of the teens and their cliques. The teens included up and coming actors who are famous now. The teenagers are Emilio Estevez, who played the jock, Judd Nelson played the rebel, druggie, Paul Gleason played the smart nerd, Ally Sheedy played the shy, odd girl, and Molly Ringwald played the popular girl. The five teens are forced to spend a Saturday together in detention.

Saturday morning begins at Shermer High School in Chicago, Illinois. They all meet in the library where the assistant principal assigns each teen to write a 1000 word essay on who the teen thinks they are. The assistant principal only returns occasionally to check on the teens. Bender, the rebel teen ignores the rules, and harasses Claire, the popular girl, teases Brian the nerd, and acts out.

The teens eventually reveal secrets about themselves while smoking marijuana that Bender the rebel has. The teens realize that they all have one thing in common, and that is they all have a bad relationship with their parents. The teens fear that they may make the same mistakes as their parents and each teen face similar pressures.

The song “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” always reminds fans of the Breakfast Club movie. When the song is playing at the end of the movie, the teens are all going their separate ways, but plan on staying friends, despite the cliques that they are in. The movie has many funny moments along with some heartfelt moments. Fans of the Breakfast Club relates in some way. We all know a nerd, or envy the popular girl or the jock. It’s so funny at the end of the show when the teens convince Brian, the brainy nerd to write the essay for them. Brian does write one essay that is signed ‘The Breakfast Club’.

The Breakfast Club is one of the best teen and high school movie ever made. Wearing the Breakfast Club T-Shirts is allowing the movie to be relived. If your kids have never watched the movie, then rent or purchase the movie, then wear your Breakfast Club tee shirt, and your kids will be asking for their very own Breakfast Club t-shirt by the end of the movie.

The Breakfast Club is understood and loved by adults and teens, because we all have been in that same situation where you might not want to speak or be associated with someone that isn’t in your clique. The movie shows you that it doesn’t matter who or what you are, because we all go through the same issues.

Remember at the end of the movie when the song “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” is playing and Bender is walking away through the sports field? Bender raises his fist in triumph. You too can raise your fist in triumph when you wear your Breakfast Club tee shirt.
